I'm Danica

My name is Danica Schildhorn. I am the owner of Branch Physical Therapy. I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelors in Exercises Science in 2009 and continued on to get a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, graduating in 2012! I have worked as a physical therapist primarily in the outpatient orthopedic setting for the last 12 years. I love the diversity that comes with outpatient orthopedic physical therapy and the results that come with manual therapy specifically!

When I am not working as a Physical Therapist, I love spending time with my husband, playing outside, going on walks, hikes, paddle boarding, bike rides, pickleball! I also love reading the bible and growing in my relationship with Jesus. He truly is the one I worship and adore!

Why Physical Therapy

My journey into physical therapy started in high school. I was an avid soccer player growing up and when I got to high school I experienced some pretty significant injuries including 2 ACL tears, a meniscus tear, and plenty of other minor injuries that come with playing competitive sports. Needless to say I became a frequent flier at the physical therapy clinic. My physical therapist at the time was such a blessing in my life! She was funny, empathetic, and encouraging, and had the knowledge and skill to get me back on the field playing. After my first year in college, I landed a summer job at that same physical therapy clinic working as a PT technician. It was being on the other side and helping people through the same physical setbacks that I went through that got me excited about making this a career!
